Everything We Know About The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom

What if Princess Zelda became the main character? In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, play as Princess Zelda to save Link. 

In addition to the first images of Metroid Prime 4 and a new Mario & Luigi game, the June 2024 Nintendo Direct showcased a brand new top-down Zelda game. But this time, it’s Princess Zelda who will embark on a quest to rescue Link and the rest of the Kingdom of Hyrule. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be available on September 26, 2024, on Nintendo Switch.

Of course, the Zelda saga has first made its mark on Nintendo Switch with the exceptional Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. But in 2019, a remake of Link’s Awakening was particularly well received, notably thanks to its highly successful artistic direction. Nintendo has decided to retain this graphical style to introduce a brand new adventure, featuring Princess Zelda as the main character.

As Link and much of the Kingdom are absorbed by mysterious black rifts, Princess Zelda will have to travel across Hyrule to save them. And unlike Link, the princess will not use a sword or shield to overcome all the creatures she encounters on her path.

In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda is equipped with a magic staff that allows her to remember the different objects she encounters, so she can produce imitations of them, called echoes. Much like what we have recently seen in Tears of the Kingdom, players will need to learn how to use the game’s environment to build tools for progress or to solve puzzles.

But this mechanic is also very effective in combat, as in addition to objects, Zelda can use her magic staff on creatures, allowing her to summon them later to fight for her. Of course, some objects will also be useful to defeat certain enemies.

For the first time, the fate of the Kingdom of Hyrule rests in Zelda’s hands, not Link’s. To save the kingdom, the princess will need to rely on her wisdom more than on her courage or strength. These new, original gameplay mechanics should make the adventures of all players truly unique, as there will always be multiple solutions to progress.
